Welcome home.

Vistas Cope is our home, and we hope you will feel that when you stay with us. I am a native Panamanian, born and raised in Panama City, my husband is English, and we have two beautiful young children and two dogs (all four are sweet and friendly :). In 2010, we began the journey to design and build what is now Vistas Cope, an eco-villa in the central mountains of Panama. As an environmental economist for the United Nations, Andrew was committed to using sustainable and recycled materials wherever possible. Conservation is at the very heart of Vistas Cope. And as Panamanians, we were inspired to showcase the pristine natural beauty of our country to those who wished to enjoy and respect it, as we do. Our hope is that Vistas Cope makes you feel more connected, in more ways than one.

Welcome to Vistas Cope,
Priscilla

Brief History

The original site for Vistas Cope was forested land in a remote area of the mountains, where building was challenging. The project took more than three years to complete. The villa is bio-climatic, cooled by natural breezes, and a vast majority of the wood and steel is reused material from from U.S. military bases in Panama, and thus of historical value and interest.

Vistas Cope was featured in architectural reviews Architectural Record (U.S. | June 2016) and in A Vivre (France | Edition 89)

Eco-Facts

- The villa is made of reused wood from old US military homes in Panama bringing a historic and cultural value to the building

- The relaxing pool is filled by a natural spring nearby
- Running water draws from a nearby artisanal well
- The artisanal well extract water from an underground aquifer, pumped by solar panels
- Natural breezes cool the villa so that air conditioning is not required (ceiling fans available if needed)
- Along with nature comes moths and mosquitos attracted to the lights, and at times fruit bats particularly when nearby trees are fruiting.
